Description
Lunaria annua, known as the moonflower, inspires this Sola Cube from Usage No Nedoko in Kyoto. Its disk-shaped fruit resembles the moon, with a delicate, translucent inner membrane that remains long after the outer layers fall away. This design reflects the Japanese appreciation for nature’s overlooked beauty. Each cube is handcrafted with real dried plants encased in crystal-clear acrylic resin, offering a timeless, meditative display. Inspired by Shiro Kuramata’s philosophy that enchantment is function, these cubes capture fleeting natural beauty in a lasting form.

I bought this Sola Cube for my desk, and it’s a lovely, calming accent. The preserved Lunaria flower looks delicate and ethereal inside the clear acrylic. It’s small but noticeable at 4x4x4 cm—perfect for mindful moments. The build quality feels solid, though I wish the base was a bit sturdier. Reminds me of quiet mornings, not quite ‘death by lightning,’ but definitely peaceful.
